Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois now has an official UK PPV price confirmed, but some boxing fans are not happy.
The WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight world title fight will be live and free on talkSPORT on Saturday night, however the PPV will cost £19.95 on TNT Sports.
Some boxing fans have argued in favour of the price.
One said: “Great value.”
While a second fan wrote: “It is a title fight to be fair.”
However, it’s fair to say there are many who disagree.
One fan commented: “Surely this isn’t real.”
And a second said: “At the risk of being an old man shouting at clouds, how is this not part of an already pricey sports package? Is there anyone invested enough to pay extra?”
A third simply wrote: “Solid pass.”
While a fourth put: “If it does more than 20,000 buys I will be amazed.”
Another fan said: “Shouldn’t be anywhere near PPV.”
While a separate observer agreed: “Should be free to air.”
Usyk has been fighting at heavyweight since 2020, moving from his position as undisputed cruiserweight champion.
He fought and beat Chazz Witherspoon then Derek Chisora before fighting for Anthony Joshua’s titles in his third fight in the glamour division in 2021.
He beat him then did so again in the rematch and had been hoping to set up a fight with WBC champion Tyson Fury.
That didn’t materialise and is now facing Dubois in Poland, which the Brit’s team knows will be tough owing to the large support Usyk will have from the many Ukrainians in Wroclaw displaced by the Russian invasion of their home.
“Apparently there’s about a quarter of a million Ukrainians who are based and settled in that particular area where the fight is going to take place,” trainer Don Charles told talkSPORT.
“So we anticipate it’s going to be a very hostile atmosphere.”
Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois is live on talkSPORT from Poland on Saturday 26 August
