Raphael Varane has posted on social media with Manchester United fans convinced that it’s an emphatic response to a transfer rumour.
The French defender has been making headlines this week as links with a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad emerge.
While a move would see him join French teammates, N’Golo Kante and Karim Benzema, the 30-year-old has seemingly responded to the speculation with a show of commitment to his current employers.
Taking to Instagram, Varane showed a picture of him kissing the Man United badge, with a caption of a heart and crossed swords.
Fans have certainly interpreted his post as a sign that he’s sticking around, with supporters getting very excited in the comments.
One said: “Bro is staying.”
Another said: “Varane is a Red,” with another adding: “You are staying.”
“Immediately denying all the rumours! My defender,” said another fan.”
“Don’t go please, we need you,” wished one supporter.
While another added: “Only special players knows the value of this club and you’re one of them Don Rapha!”
Varane joined Man United in 2021 and has since gone on to make 65 appearances for the club.
The French defender currently has two years left on his deal which will take his stay at Old Trafford until the summer of 2025.
