Transfer notebook: Saudi not giving up on Mohamed Salah, West Ham beat mystery Premier League rival to Mohammed Kudus deal, Tottenham identify £115million Harry Kane replacement

Saudi Pro League chiefs are confident they can prise Mohamed Salah away from Liverpool next summer, even if they fail to sign the Egyptian this transfer window.

Al Ittihad are making a late push to sign Salah before the Saudi transfer window closes on September 7, but talkSPORT has been told Liverpool have no interest in selling their talisman.

That will not be the end of the saga as the Public Investment Fund (PIF) – who own four Saudi clubs as well as Newcastle – have made Salah their ‘must-have’ marquee player.

It is believed Salah – who has been offered a three-year deal worth £195million plus endorsements – would be open to making the move at the end of the season.

Liverpool have already lost Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi this summer.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp was asked to comment on the news of a £65m-per-year contract offer sent to Salah, and replied: : “It’s difficult to talk about media stories as there’s nothing to talk about from our point of view.

“Mo Salah is a Liverpool player. There’s nothing there. If there was something the answer would be no [he’s not for sale].”

Wolves line-up dream part-exchange

Tommy Doyle is likely to join Wolves from Manchester City if Matheus Nunes makes the switch from Molineux to the Etihad Stadium.

Midfielder Doyle was already on Wolves’ list of targets before City’s interest in Nunes emerged.

Having had one offer of £47m rejected, the treble winners are lining up a fresh bid which is set to include Doyle in part exchange.

talkSPORT understands Nunes has made it clear to the Wolves hierarchy that he wants to join Pep Guardiola’s side.

Wolves are holding out for a fee worth north of £60m for the Portuguese ace.

Meanwhile, Doyle, 21, could be an ideal replacement, having starred on loan at Sheffield United last season in their promotion campaign.

David Moyes gets his man

West Ham have seen off interest from Saudi Arabia and a mystery Premier League club to seal the signing of Ajax star Mohammed Kudus.

Kudus is expected to be formally unveiled as a Hammers player over the weekend after a £38m deal was struck between the two clubs.

The Hammers’ new sporting director Tim Steidten is understood to have played a key role in persuading Kudus to sign after holding face-to-face talks with the Ghanaian.

He was close to joining Brighton earlier in the window but manager Roberto De Zerbi pulled the plug on the deal after Kudus stalled on agreeing personal terms.

Spurs eye pricey long-term Kane replacement

Tottenham have identified Brighton striker Evan Ferguson as a long-term target to fill the void left by Harry Kane.

Ange Postecoglu is a big admirer of Ferguson, but Spurs have held off making a move as they know Brighton are determined to keep hold of the 19-year-old.

The Republic of Ireland international only signed a new five-year deal in April and Brighton are understood to value Ferguson at even more than the £115m they sold Moises Caicedo to Chelsea for.

Ferguson has scored seven goals in 22 games in his fledgling Premier League career.
