West Ham announce Mohammed Kudus transfer in £38million deal to continue David Moyes spending spree

West Ham have completed the signing of Mohammed Kudus from Ajax.

The Hammers reached an agreement with Ajax for the Ghana international this week over a fee worth £38million.

“I’ve been dreaming to play in a league like this since I was a kid,” Kudus said.

“I’ve been dreaming of this moment and I’m so happy to be here. But it doesn’t stop here, I want to keep going.

“I try my best to entertain the fans as I think that’s what football is all about. I’m just here to do my best and help the team.

“I’m really happy to be here. I will fight for the badge. I can’t wait to get started.”

Kudus, who completed his medical over the weekend becomes the second player to make the move from Amsterdam to east London, following Edson Alvarez, who joined for a similar fee.

The attacking midfielder, who can play across the front line, has penned a five-year contract with an option for another season.

The new acquisition sees David Moyes continue his summer spending spree.

After selling Declan Rice for £105m to Arsenal, there were concerns that the Hammers were not ready for the new Premier League season.

But the arrival of James Ward-Prowse gave the club a huge boost, making an immediate impact with two assists and a goal in his two appearances – both 3-1 wins over Chelsea and Brighton.

And the signing of Kudus will only further excite West Ham fans, who will play in the Europa League this season.

The youngster has been called one of the top talents in Europe after a brilliant campaign at Ajax last season.

He enjoyed a breakthrough campaign where he scored 18 and assisted seven in all competitions and had started this season in fine fettle, too.

On Thursday, he scored a hat-trick in Ajax’s Europa League play-off win over Ludogorets, which turned out to be his final game for the club.

West Ham will believe they have landed a real coup with plenty of interest in Kudus’ services.

Chelsea had been keen at one point in the summer while Brighton had struck an agreement with Ajax over a fee but couldn’t agree personal terms with the player

As well as Ward-Prowse, Alvarez and Kudus, Konstantinos Mavropanos has also been signed with Moyes spending the money garnered from the Rice sale.
