Cash Warren Opens Up About A Surprising Detail In His Relationship With Jessica Alba
The film producer recently shared on iHeart Podcasts “Whine Down with Jana Kramer” that he and the 42-year-old faced a brief breakup four years into their relationship due to jealousy-related issues.
In response to a question about how he managed a romantic association with a prominent star, the 44-year-old stated, “When we first started dating I was really jealous of other guys and the attention she was getting from other guys. It just wasn’t making me feel good.”
PEOPLE noted that during the conversation, Warren acknowledged his strong self-assuredness in his personal life, but as his relationship with the actress progressed, he found himself consumed by jealousy.
Realizing the detrimental impact on both of them, he addressed it by admitting his feelings. In his words, “I was like, ‘I hate feeling like this. It doesn’t make me feel good, and I know it doesn’t make you feel good.’ And we broke up four years into our relationship. We broke up. It was the jealousy. I was turning into an a——, and so we broke up.”
While they were apart, the “Pair of Thieves” co-founder committed to discovering a “more productive way” of channeling his emotions if they were to reconcile. The “Fantastic Four” assistant director continued by expressing that he sees himself as his wife’s primary supporter and has never harbored any “resentment towards her for working hard.”
He shared that rather than urging sacrifices, he encouraged the “Honey” star to pursue her passions and career without guilt, even if it meant spending time away from their children. He felt their little ones would eventually grow up and not remember the short absences.
The father-of-three added, “I’ve tried to be a good teammate in that regard. I’m not interested in the spotlight. I’m not a star, I’m not a celeb, I’m not an actor, I’ve never tried to be an actor. I high-five her, let her do her thing, and I’ve gotten more comfortable with it over the years.”
Exploring the key to their enduring relationship spanning almost two decades, Warren highlighted the importance of patience, mentioning that over time, “your energy starts to get back aligned” after challenging periods in long-term partnerships.
Having experienced those a few times, he mentioned that he no longer gets anxious or apprehensive when their energy appears misaligned. Warren highlighted that the “Good Luck Chuck” actress “felt very much aligned there.”
He noted that during such times, they give each other space, communicate openly, or go on date nights to rekindle their connection, adding, “You try to do things to get it back, and fortunately I’ve got a partner who is right there lock and step.”
