Fred has appeared to confirm Manchester United’s imminent transfer of Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.
talkSPORT revealed last week that the Red Devils had tabled a £4.3million offer for the shot-stopper.
It is understood that the Turkey international has already completed a medical in anticipation of the move.
And former United midfielder Fred, who left the club to join the Turkish giants last month, has let slip details of his teammates’ impending switch to the Premier League.
Despite it not being a done deal just yet, Fred revealed he has already wished the goalkeeper ‘good luck’ at his former stomping ground.
Quoted by beIN Sports, Fred said at his press conference: “I wished Altay good luck when he left. He is going to join a great team.
“Altay will be very happy at Manchester United.
“I gave him some suggestions about places where he could live and I told him it rains a lot!”
Bayindir is set to join United as the club’s No2 behind summer signing Andre Onana and is likely to be confirmed once Dean Henderson’s switch to Crystal Palace has been completed.
The 25-year-old was omitted from Fenerbahce’s starting line-up for last Thursday’s 5-1 win over FC Twente in the Europa Conference League and appeared to bid farewell to the club’s supporters.
Bayindir might not be not be the only new face at Old Trafford this week ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.
Boss Erik ten Hag is understood to want to add further depth to his squad with a new left-back and midfielder.
United have been in contact with several clubs after being dealt a huge injury blow when Luke Shaw was ruled out for an ‘extended period of time.’
Marc Cucurella, Sergio Reguilon and Marcos Alonso have all need touted as possible replacements for the England international.
Meanwhile one of Sofyan Amrabat and Ryan Gravenberch could add further steel to Ten Hag’s midfielder.
