Alexis Mac Allister’s brother Kevin and his Union Saint-Gilloise teammates let out a huge scream of delight after being drawn alongside Liverpool.
The teams will go head-to-head in the Europa League following Friday’s draw, with Austrian side LASK and French Cup holders Toulouse completing the group.
Alexis moved to Liverpool from Brighton this summer and will get his first taste of European football when the Reds kick off their Europa League campaign on September 21.
Kevin was also on the move this summer, joining the Belgian outfit from Argentinos Juniors.
And now the pair will face off against each other in their quest to qualify for the knockout rounds.
Kevin and his teammates were informed of the draw while making their way back from a qualifying game against Swiss side Lugano.
Players erupted when Liverpool were read out as an opponent and as expected, the camera zoomed in on the heartwarming moment the older Mac Allister sibling told Alexis: “See you soon, bro!”
The pair will have to wait a little longer to see when they will be reunited with the fixture list expected to be made public on Saturday.
It has been a whirlwind few years for the Brussels-based club who only made their return to the Belgian top flight in 2021.
A stunning first season back in the top-tier saw Union SG finish first and qualify for the play-offs.

However, they were unable to lift the title after narrowly losing out to Club Brugge.
Union qualified for the play-offs again last season, but were unable to get over the line as Royal Antwerp reigned supreme.
Their trip to Liverpool arguably represents the club’s biggest game in decades coupled with the added romance of the Mac Allister derby.
