Thomas Frank is seeking attacking reinforcements following the ban being served by Ivan Toney who is ruled out until mid-January.

Maupay’s career in England started with Brentford having joined the club from Saint Etienne II in 2017 for a fee of just £1.6million.

Having scored 13 goals in his first campaign, Maupay went on to score 28 goals and bag nine assists for the Bees in 2018/19 as he formed a lethal attacking line with Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma.

That campaign earned him a £20m move to Brighton where he scored 27 goals in 109 appearances before leaving for the Toffees last summer.

Having scored just once in a disappointing campaign at Goodison Park, Maupay’s move to Brentford could be the perfect scenario for all parties with fans of both the Bees and the Toffees likely to be pleased at the deal.

Responding to the news, an Everton fan wrote: “Please be true….”

A second added: “Can we replace his one goal?”

However at the Brentford end, there’s real excitement over the deal.

“Great news,” wrote one fan, while another added: “Absolutely love it. Always loved his passion.”

A third fan said: “Already loved. He will feed off the love. Something he never got at Everton.”

Meanwhile a final supporter wrote: “Absolutely fantastic. That will make some atmosphere in the ground tomorrow.”
