Rose Namajunas has successfully weighed in for her flyweight debut.
The former two-time strawweight champion will compete in the 125lb division for the first time when she squares off against Manon Fiorot at UFC Paris on Saturday.
‘Thug’ clearly had no issues with her cut as she was the first person to the scale on Friday morning and officially weighed in at 125lbs.
Despite being 10lbs heavier than usual, Namajunas still looked like the same fighter who has been entertaining fans in the UFC for almost a decade.
Without cutting weight overnight to make strawweight, the 31-year-old was fresh-faced and ready to compete for the first time since losing to Carla Esparza at UFC 274 in May 2022.
Namajunas’ French opponent was next up, and she came in at the exact same weight to make what could be a number one contender fight official.
Since suffering a split decision MMA debut defeat to Leah McCourt in June 2018, Fiorot has sliced her way through ten consecutive opponents to put herself on the cusp of UFC glory.
At UFC 280 in October 2022, she easily outpointed perennial contender Katlyn Chookagian to stretch her winning run in MMA’s premier promotion to five in a row.
The flyweight belt will be up for grabs in Las Vegas later this month.
Alexa Grasso will put her strap on the line in a rematch with Valentina Shevchenko after shockingly dethroning the long-time champion in March.
They’ll rematch at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on September 16.
The winner could face Namajunas or Fiorot next, but top contender Erin Blanchfield is currently waiting in the wings for a title shot.
At just 24 years old, she already has big wins over popular scouser Molly McCann, former champion Jessica Andrade, and top contender Talia Santos.
Blanchfield will feel hard done by if she’s not next in line at flyweight.
