Jude Bellingham’s fantastic start at Real Madrid got even better on Saturday as he scored a stoppage time winner against Getafe.
The 20-year-old, who signed from Borussia Dortmund in a deal that could rise to £115million, is already proving his worth in Spain.
After impressing in pre-season he made his Madrid and La Liga debut in the 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao, in which he scored their second.
Bellingham then netted twice and assisted in the 3-1 victory against Almeria, before finding the target again against Celta Vigo.
Football returned to Madrid’s iconic home at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday after it underwent a revamp over the summer.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side ensured their first game back ended in style, with Bellingham emerging as the hero.
Getafe travelled to the capital the day after they completed the loan signing of Mason Greenwood from Manchester United, who announced that the 21-year-old would not play again for the club.
Greenwood was arrested in January 2022 on suspicion of rape, assault and making threats to kill.
He denied all the charges, which were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February.
The forward has not played for over a year-and-a-half and was not named in the squad against Madrid.
Getafe actually took the lead at the Bernabeu through Borja Mayoral after 11 minutes to leave the hosts stunned.
Joselu equalised at the start of the second half, with Bellingham showing a striker’s instinct with a follow-up finish in stoppage time.
It’s a moment that has now seen him score five goals and assist another in his opening four games at the club.
Bellingham is also the first Madrid player to net in such a timeframe for the first time since the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo.
Such a feat is one that he will surely cherish and if the Portuguese star’s record is anything to go by, then Bellingham is set for stardom.
