Fighter who suffered ‘worst leg break in MMA history’ during his debut provides timeline for potential comeback

Dylan Reischman is already thinking about having a second professional MMA fight after his first ended in horrific fashion.

The 21-year-old from North Carolina made his debut against Jaime Mora on the undercard of Combat Global: Ferreira vs. Morales on Saturday night.

In round two, Reischman was attempting to defend a takedown along the fence when his leg got caught at an awkward angle and disaster struck.

As both men fell to the floor, Reischman’s leg loudly snapped in half and he immediately drew the referee’s attention to the injury, bringing an abrupt halt to the contest.

A replay of the fight ending sequence showed a bone in Reischman’s leg was nearly protruding out of the top of his knee.

Footage of the incident was quickly shared on Twitter alongside the caption, ‘Worst leg break in MMA history!? I think YES!!’

After becoming a viral fight star for all the wrong reasons, Reischman took to social media to let everyone know he was doing fine and already thinking about making a comeback.

“Thank you everybody for all the support and prayers it seriously means the world and has already made this adjustment a lot easier,” he wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of him in a hospital bed.

“My surgery went great, I’m going to be mobile on crutches tomorrow and I can start training again in 4 months which was honestly a lot sooner than expected.

“This is just the beginning guys, I’m not deterred from my dreams in the slightest. Freak accidents happen in this sport. It is what it is. God bless.”

The young prospect was buoyed by the fact former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira had seen his fight and sent him a get well soon message.

“When your favourite fighter watched your femur get snapped in half,” he added alongside a picture of Oliveira’s Twitter post about him.

“Thank you, idol Charles Oliveira. This is unreal!”
