Carlos Alcaraz v Alexander Zverev – 1:15am’

The Spaniard is not only the world number one heading into tonight’s match but is also the defending champion of this tournament, having won here last year in what was his first Grand Slam title for the 19-year-old, with many more likely to come.

Alcaraz made quick work of the Italian Matteo Arnaldi in the last round, winning in straight sets to book his place in his third successive US Open quarter final.

Zverev, the former US Open finalist, took part in a five set thriller against the world number six Jannik Sinner to book his place in the last eight, with his win over the Italian showing he might be getting somewhere back close to his best.

Zheng Qinwen v Aryna Sabalenka – 5pm

Sabalenka, the highest ranked woman left in the tournament after Iga Swiatek’s fourth round exit, takes on Zheng Qinwen in China in her quarter final tie, today’s first game on Arthur Ashe.

The world number two and current Australian Open champion is yet to drop a set this tournament and is yet to lose more than three games in a set throughout her four matches so far.

The Belarusian’s opponent today, the 20-year-old Chinese 23rd seed, is taking part in only her second US Open and this quarter final stage is the furthest she has been in any Grand Slam, sealing her place with an impressive straight sets win over last year’s finalist Ons Jabeur.

Medvedev was ranked number one in the world at the start of last year, and is the favourite to reach his seventh Grand Slam final with victory this evening, while Rublev is taking part in his ninth quarter final but is yet to reach the last four in any Slam.

Marketa Vondrousova v Madison Keys – 12am

Madison Keys is the final American left in the women’s singles draw at this years US Open, but despite being ranked lower than her opponent tonight, is the favourite to reach would be her sixth Grand Slam semi final, and her third at Flushing Meadows.

The Illinoisan reached last eight this year by beating her fellow compatriot and world number three Jessica Pegula in straight sets in round four, and meets the world number nine Czech Vondrousova tonight for a place in the semis.

Vondrousova, the reigning Wimbledon champion and current Czech number one, is bidding to win her second Grand Slam tournament in a row, with the 24-year-old reaching her first ever US Open quarter final in the process.
