Ivan Toney has been pictured training for the first time since being handed an eight-month ban from football for breaching betting rules.
The Brentford striker has not featured since a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool on May 6 and will not be available for selection until January.
Toney has been unable to train with his teammates as per the conditions of the ban, but that hasn’t stopped him preparing for his big return.
The 27-year-old is able to rejoin his Brentford teammates for training from September 17 and is already getting himself up to speed, if his latest pictures are anything to go by.
Toney took to Instagram to share snaps of him putting the work in during a solo training session.
The pictures show Toney pushing himself in the hot conditions as he uploaded a number of pictures to his 417,000 folllowers.
The striker shared the images alongside a cryptic caption which read: “I didn’t come this far to only come this far.”
Despite his ban, Toney continues to be linked with a move away from Brentford with a number of suitors reportedly keeping tabs on him.
Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have all been linked with a move for the England international.
And the race for his signature could heat up once he returns to action – especially with the centre-forward recently switching agencies.
Brentford are believed to value Toney at around £80million should they choose to offload him in the winter transfer window.
Toney’s rise at the top level earned him a first senior cap for England during the 2-0 Euro 2024 qualifying win over Ukraine in March.
It came after his disappointing absence from the Three Lions’ World Cup squad despite producing some of his best career form at the time.
