Tom Curry given red card just 11 minutes into England’s World Cup opener against Argentina

England’s Rugby World Cup campaign got off to the worst possible start with Tom Curry sent off just minutes into their opening match with Argentina.

The flanker was initially given a yellow card and put in the sin bin following a head-on-head collision with Juan Cruz Mallia.

The Argentina star required medical intervention, with the bunker left to deliberate an appropriate punishment for the Sale star.

However England got the news they were dreading when Curry’s yellow card was upgraded to a red, leaving Borthwick’s side with a numerical disadvantage after just 11 minutes.

It is the third time since August that England have been shown a red card, leaving them with plenty of work to do in their World Cup opener.
