Fans are amazed at witnessing ex-Sheffield United talisman Billy Sharp now plying his trade with LA Galaxy in the MLS.
As far as transfers are concerned, some do certainly go under the radar and this is certainly one of them.
The 37-year-old joined the US side on a free transfer after his contract with the Blades came to end in the summer.
Sharp, who has two goals in four appearances since arriving, netted on 82 minutes for his new club in the early hours of Monday, as LA Galaxy drew 2-2 with St Louis City.
Fans have since been left shocked after finding out the Sheffield-born ace is now featuring for LA Galaxy.
One said: “From Sheffield to Hollywood… Of all the players I expected to see playing for LA Galaxy, Billy Sharp was not one of them. One minute you’re being managed by Chris Wilder and the next you’re playing next to Riqui Puig.”
Another added: “Sorry, Billy Sharp plays for LA Galaxy?? When did that happen??”
A third said: “Billy Sharp’s at LA Galaxy?”
With a fourth stating: “Hahahaha what, Billy Sharp is at LA Galaxy?!?!”
After joining the club in the summer, manager Greg Vanney said: “Billy is an accomplished striker who brings experience, leadership and proven goal-scoring pedigree.
“We are pleased to add a player of Billy’s calibre to the team for the stretch run of the season.”
Sharp netted 129 goals in 377 appearances across three spells with Sheffield United, before opting to move stateside.
His total goal tally in all English leagues stands at a remarkable 266 in 690 appearances.
LA Galaxy are currently 13th in the Western Conference seven points off a playoff spot.
