LeBron James has revealed his desire to represent the USA along with several other stars at the upcoming Paris Olympics in 2024.
The USA were recently involved in the FIBA (International Basketball Federation) World Cup, but could only manage an underwhelming fourth-placed finish.
It has since been revealed basketball legend James, is looking to try to convince and recruit a solid team for the 2024 Paris Olympics next year – in a last hurrah.
That is according to Shams Charania, of The Athletic, who states: “James has spoken to Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, Jayson Tatum and Draymond Green, and they are all prepared to commit as well.
“Separately, Phoenix’s Devin Booker, Portland’s Damian Lillard, Sacramento’s De’Aaron Fox and Dallas’ Kyrie Irving also have serious interest in committing, league sources said.
“James’ effort started well before the USA World Cup team, led by Anthony Edwards and Mikal Bridges, lost at the World Cup, and was not related to whether this summer’s team won or lost.”
USA officials are eyeing a side which is able to compete at the highest level for the upcoming games in France.
According to Charania, LA Lakers star James and Durant see the tournament as a ‘last dance’ with their country.
James is eyeing one last gold medal before he calls time on his stellar career at national level it is believed.
Though former NBA star Paul Pierce has claimed despite James’ age of 39, his career is far from over.
“I really think LeBron is going to go,” Pierce said on the Ticket & The Truth podcast.
“I think LeBron will be there in the Olympics. This will be his final Olympics. I think Steph [Curry] will be there. I think he’ll go to the Olympics. I think he’s got to go.”
