Southampton v Leicester preview

Both sides were relegated from the Premier League last season and are highly expected to be in contention to be promoted straight back up to the top flight at the first time of asking.

Leicester have made a better start to the season out of the two, as they occupy the third place position heading into the latest round of fixtures after the two week break for the international matches.

Enzo Maresca’s side had won all six of their matches in all competitions prior their final match before the international break in which they fell to surprise 1-0 defeat at home against Hull.

The Foxes’ total of 12 points from their first five matches leaves them just a point behind Preston, who top the Championship table.

Southampton have had a steady start to life in the Championship having spent the previous 11 seasons in the Premier League, with Russell Martin’s side in seventh place heading into the international break.

The Saints had picked up 10 points from their opening four matches before their most recent league match in which they were thumped 5-0 by Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Leicester did the double over Southampton last season as both sides were relegated after lengthy stays in the Premier League, ending a run of five matches without a win over the Hampshire side.

Southampton v Leicester betting tips

BetVictor have boosted a handful of their odds ahead of Friday’s big Championship clash, which has seen the odds for Southampton win 3-1 boosted to 17/1, while a similar offer of the Saints to win and both teams to score is now 10/3.

For those backing the Foxes to win, punters can now get Kelechi Iheanacho to score the only goal of the game at a boosted 40/1, while those expecting a goal-fest can now get 6+ goals in the match at 14/1.
