Cristiano Ronaldo scores in Al Nassr’s victory – but almost knocks out cameraman with wayward free-kick

Cristiano Ronaldo left a cameraman holding on for dear life as a wayward free-kick struck him in the head.

The former Real Madrid superstar was lining up again for Al Nassr, the Saudi Pro League side he joined after departing Manchester United in the winter window.

With Ronaldo’s time in elite level football now over, fans of the Riyadh side have been overjoyed with the Portugal skipper’s arrival, but perhaps not one asset of his game.

The 38-year-old was known as a free-kick specialist early in his career, but has found scoring from set-pieces hard to come by in recent years.

And it appears little has changed at Al Nassr, with Ronaldo firing one dead ball against Al Raed whistling past the goal.

Spotting the shot, but unable to get out of the way, a camera operator behind the goal struggled to detach himself from his rig as the ball struck him straight on his head.

Footage showed the technician stumbling backwards and nearly falling over as other employees behind the goal came to help.

As a display of just how hard the cameraman was hit, the ball cannoned off of his head and high into the crowd as he scrambled to regain his footing.

Thankfully for Ronaldo, that wasn’t his only high-profile moment of the game.

He eventually managed to get on the score sheet – firing in Al Nassr’s third in a 3-1 win after jinxing past his marker.

Sadio Mane had earlier opened the scoring before Talisca added another.

The result made it four wins on the bounce for Al Nassr, who climb to fifth in the league after six matches – four points behind big-spending leaders Al Hilal.
